Position Description
Title: Marketing Manager - Export & MNAs
Reports to: SBU Manager – Export & MNAs
General:
Plans organizes and directs the overall marketing initiatives for the business unit. Gathers information concerning competitors, prices, sales, economic conditions to describe industry and set up marketing initiatives. Uses information to do market research in local, regional, and national areas. Determine potential sales of products and provides forecast for business unit. Develop, establish and maintain marketing strategies to meet business unit objectives. Coordinates advertising and promotional activities for the business unit and provides support companywide advertising campaigns. Provides market input for new product development and addressing new markets.
Primary Duties and responsibilities:
§ Monitor industry statistics and follow trends in trade literature, industry related publications, and attending trade show.
§ Conduct market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products.
§ Defines market segments for the business unit by industry and region in terms of TAM, SAM, trends and other metrics which help define the market.
§ Analysis of customers, current market conditions, competitors with in an industry to develop competitive strategies for business unit.
§ Determines positioning and pricing strategies for each market segment.
§ Prepares sales forecasts, and predicts future profits based on volume and costs projected by the accounting department.
§ Prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text
§ Communicates market metrics, business unit results, and strategies through formal presentation on a companywide basis.
§ Reports on ROI for new projects and KPIs for business unit.
§ Collaborates with sales force to communicate and instruct on marketing initiatives and strategies as well as collecting information related to customers and market.
§ Maintains presence with customers by visiting customer locations, and coordinating factory visits for the business unit.
§ Negotiates price with customer and contractual terms for the business unit.
§ Coordinates all marketing, advertising and promotional efforts with the marking communications/ PR function.
§ Establishes and monitors marketing budget for the business unit.
Supervisory responsibilities:
Directly supervises subordinate marketing staff.
Responsible for staffing business unit with marketing representatives and interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
Conducts performance appraisals, plans and directs work by assigning goals
consistent with the objectives of the business unit.
Responsible for rewarding and taken disciplinary action when necessary;
addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Bi-lingual in English and Chinese with a good command of either language both written and spoken. Complex problem solving and critical thinking;
Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions while using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Supervisory skills associated with monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, and other individuals, to make improvements or take corrective action. Administration and Management—Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Good knowledge of accounting and finance to analyze and evaluate marketing programs and pricing policies. Sales and Marketing—Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems. Proficient at operating a PC and application software packages as well as with office application software packages: word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and presentation generating software- Microsoft packages are currently being used.
Background Requirements (Education and experience):
MBA with course study in market research, statistics, business administration, economics, and communications, accounting and finance with 2 to 3 years of related experience preferred;
or
Bachelor’s degree with similar course work and at least 5 years related experience.
Knowledge of Electrical power distribution equipment and experience in product management describable.
